Jennifer Pinto-Martin, PhD is the Viola MacInnes/Independence Professor of Nursing in the Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences in the School of Nursing, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pinto-Martin also serves as Executive Director for the Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI). She is a Senior Scholar in the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics and in the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics. Dr. Pinto-Martin holds the position of Past Chair of the University Faculty Senate at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pinto-Martin began her career as an epidemiologist as the Project Director for the Neonatal Brain Hemorrhage (NBH) Study, a longitudinal study of neonatal brain injury in low birthweight infants. Dr. Pinto-Martin has shifted her primary research focus to the epidemiology of autism spectrum disorder. She is currently the Director and Principal Investigator of the Pennsylvania Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities Research and Epidemiology (PA-CADDRE), one of six such centers funded by the CDC to study the etiology of ASD. One of the goals of CADDRE is to conduct epidemiologic research related to autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and other developmental disabilities.
