Dr. Aakhus is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Fellowship Program Director in the Division of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology and she received a Master of Science in Health Policy Research (MSHP). In her research, she employs qualitative and quantitative methods to study bioethics issues in cancer care, including resource allocation, access to treatments, and barriers to discussions about the financial burden of care between cancer patients and their providers. She is also involved in research on gender equity in the academic medical profession.
