Fellows MD, MSTR Resident, General Surgery, New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medicine

Cara Berkowitz, MD, MSTR, is an Innovation Fellow at the Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation (PC3I) and a Resident in General Surgery at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medicine. She aims to specialize in Breast Surgery, as a physician-scientist, integrating innovative research with clinical care to improve patient outcomes.

As a PC3I Innovation Fellow, Cara is dedicated to advancing healthcare delivery for cancer patients. She focuses on bridging the gap between research and clinical practice, enhancing health equity, and developing novel, evidence-based approaches to cancer care. One of her key interests is integrating evidence-based practices into clinical settings. The lag in translating research from bench-to-clinic often delays the application of valuable research, and she is committed to bridging that gap.

Cara graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with honors in Biopsychology and Nutrition and Health. She earned her MD from Weill Cornell Medicine, where she was honored for research and community service and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She recently obtained her Master of Science in Translational Research from the University of Pennsylvania.
