The Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation (PC3I) is delighted to announce the following new additions from across the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Innovation Faculty:
Charu Aggarwal, MD, MPH is the Leslye Heisler Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine. She specializes in the management of patients with lung cancer, with a specific and clinical research focus on the development of novel immunotherapeutic approaches, and the discovery and application of biomarkers to guide therapy and monitor treatment. Christopher D’Avella, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine. His clinical practice at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center focuses on thoracic and head and neck malignancies. His research interests are in cancer care delivery, innovation, and quality improvement. Oluwadamilola “Lola” Fayanju, MD, MA, MPHS is the inaugural Helen O. Dickens Presidential Associate Professor and Chief of Breast Surgery in the Department of Surgery, and Surgical Director of the Rena Rowan Breast Center at Penn Medicine. Her research lies at the intersection of redressing disparities and improving value in oncologic care, particularly through the use of patient-reported outcomes. Learn more.
Ramy Sedhom, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine. He practices both Medical Oncology and Palliative Medicine at Princeton Medical Center. His clinical and research interests are in supportive care and cancer care delivery. Learn more.
Innovation Fellows:
Timothy Brown, MD is a Fellow in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine. His current research interests are in the development of novel therapeutics for cancers of the gastrointestinal system, optimizing supportive care for patients with cancer, and improving the delivery of cancer care to patients. Mia Djulbegovic, MD, MHS is a Fellow in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine. Her scholarship lies at the intersection of medical decision-making and outcomes research. Learn more.
Nishant Shah, MD is Chief Resident in the Department of Radiation Oncology. His research focus is in leveraging innovative technology to enhance patient safety, satisfaction and quality of care. Learn more.
Michael Tecce, DO is Chief Resident in the Division of Plastic Surgery in the Department of Surgery. His fields of interest include microvascular reconstruction, optimizing care delivery through cost-effective measures and process efficiency improvements, lymphatic surgery, and complex hernia repair, among others. Cancer Service Line & PC3I Select 2024 Innovation Accelerator Project

The Cancer Service Line (CSL) and the Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation (PC3I) have announced the selection of the 2024 Penn Cancer Innovation Accelerator project. The chosen project, submitted by Katie Boyk, BS, MHA, will identify solutions to improve cancer care scheduling workflows for patients, clinicians, and staff.

PC3I Associate Director Surbhi Grover and Deputy Director Katharine Rendle presented research at the 14th AORTIC International Conference on Cancer in Africa, which took place in Dakar, Senegal.
