On Tuesday, September 24, PC3I and the Abramson Cancer Center hosted the Inaugural JED Lectureship in Cancer Care Innovation. The event featured a lecture from Karen Knudsen, MBA, PhD, CEO of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), titled “The ACS model for leveraging innovation to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.” In her presentation, Dr. Knudsen focused on many of the ACS initiatives addressing the national burden of cancer including socioeconomic disparities, timely and accessible diagnosis and treatment, the importance of advocacy and patient support, and supporting mission-aligned businesses to advance cancer care research and practice.

The JED Lectureship in Cancer Care Innovation is made possible thanks to a generous gift from the JED Fund in memory of Dr. David H. and Anne Gerner. This endowed gift supports an annual PC3I event featuring national leaders in cancer care innovation as invited guest lecturers. In recognition of the impact and leadership of PC3I Founding Director, Justin Bekelman, future installments of this event will be titled the “Justin E. Bekelman, MD Lectureship in Cancer Care Innovation.”
