Rebecca DeBoer, MD, MA is a visiting faculty member at the Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation (PC3I), Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and an attending medical oncologist at Zuckerberg San Francisco Hospital. Previously, she was an oncology clinician at Butaro Hospital in rural Rwanda with the NGO Partners in Health. Her research interests lie in utilizing implementation science to improve the delivery of high quality, equitable cancer care to patients in diverse settings. Her work focuses on patient-clinician communication, resource allocation, and clinical practice evaluation and improvement in cancer care.

Prior to joining UCSF and PC3I, Dr. DeBoer earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Stanford University before receiving her MD and her Master’s in Medical Humanities and Bioethics from Northwestern University. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago and a Fellowship in clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago MacLean Center.
