Peter Gabriel, MD, MSE is Director of the Program in Health Informatics Innovation at the Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation (PC3I). His work focuses on developing and applying innovative approaches to technical infrastructure, workflows, and services that maximize the effective use of clinical information for quality improvement and clinical and translational research in cancer care. His primary areas of interest in informatics include data mining from clinical information systems, electronic phenotyping, database design and clinical data warehouse development, and ontologies and standardized terminologies.
Dr. Gabriel is Associate Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the Chief Oncology Informatics Officer for the Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center, Director of Informatics for the Department of Radiation Oncology, and a Senior Fellow in the Institute for Biomedical Informatics. He has a technical background in computer science and engineering, clinical training in internal medicine, and subspecialty board certification in clinical informatics. Nationally, he is a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine Big Data Subcommittee and the Epic Oncology and Radiation Oncology Steering Boards.
